Why YUNNANTEA.COM

Yunnan tea has a long and complex history, diverse tea-growing landscapes, distinctive processing traditions, and an important place in the wider history of tea. Yet reliable English-language resources that bring these dimensions together remain limited.

YunnanTea.com was created to build such a reference. We document Yunnan tea through history, evidence, professional experience and field observation, while distinguishing clearly between what is documented, what is observed, what is interpreted and what remains unresolved.

Our aim is not simply to promote Yunnan tea, but to make it more understandable, more accurately documented and more accessible to the wider world.

I founded YunnanTea.com after more than 16 years working within Yunnan tea industry, where my experience has included tea blending, fermentation, production and export.

Working closely with tea production has given me a perspective that extends beyond the finished product. I have seen how tea is made, how decisions are made inside tea factories, how traditional practices are passed on, and how Yunnan tea is presented and understood in international markets.

My aim is not simply to promote Yunnan tea, but to build an independent and reliable English-language reference for understanding it — one that brings together historical records, scientific research, professional experience and field observations, while remaining clear about the difference between documented evidence, observation, interpretation and what is still unresolved.
